The purpose of this site is to introduce you to our Villa and make it easy for you to rent by the day, week or longer.  Our goal is to provide you with useful information about our home in sufficient detail so that you can make an informed vacation decision.  Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or an old-fashioned family beach vacation we attempt to provide you with the ideal home base from which to do it from on beautiful Bald Head Island.  Come join us and see what we mean.

We’ve owned Villa 20 since August of 2005 and have continuously tried to improve it. We bought the Villa in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary after years of vacationing on Bald Head Island. We found Bald Head at the suggestion of a friend while seeking a more relaxed family vacation. Prior to this we had always gone to the Outer Banks of NC but found it to be increasingly congested and more of the fast paced life we were attempting to leave behind in the daily grind.  Our first day relaxing on the quiet, secluded, fine sand beaches of Bald Head Island told us we found the right place.  No bridge to contend with, no crowds, no cars on the island - we had discovered life in turtle time and there was no going back.

Although you will rent our home from us, we are backed by a fully staffed, on-island property management company that is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Once you tell us when you want to stay we turn you over to the Professionals who will take it from there. You can pay by credit card, buy vacation insurance, order grocery delivery, and obtain all the resort services you would expect from a full service management company.  Vacation should be easy and relaxed so we try to make it that way.

There seem to be two distinctly different beach house decorating philosophies held by people who offer their home for rent. There are those who believe that a vacation home should be decorated using clean hand me downs and garage sale items of little value so that if they get damaged there is little loss. This assumes guests should be able to live with anything for a week of beach vacation. We are of the mindset that this is our home away from home and that it is difficult to get things to the island so if you are going to the trouble of doing so, you might as well take nice things that will last. We decorate from Pottery Barn and main line retailers and attempt to rent to people who will appreciate and care for quality.  We don’t expect our guest to “live with,” we would rather you enjoy your stay on island time.

We are often asked why we rent our home on Bald Head.  We think the more logical question should be, why wouldn’t we rent our home.  We can’t possibly use our home every weekend at this stage in our life.  We think it would be a shame to have an island home in such an ideal place sit empty when someone else could be there to enjoy and explore our wonderful island. That being said, we take very good care of our home and expect others to treat it as nicely.  We think once you visit you will understand exactly why we rent and we think we will see you again. Oh, and did I mention that we have two daughters in college?
